After much cajoling from my friends, I have decided to put off studying biochem to post. I apologize for not blogging sooner- February was a brutal month. Who knew that even an event as amazing as the celebration of my birth could not prevent a week long battle with Campylobacter, a multitude of tests, way too much snow, and a plow hitting all of our trash spewing it all over the street?
Well, all of that is now in the past, and with Punxsutawney Phil’s (Pete's long lost cousin) prediction that we’re bound for an early spring it’s time to get excited! The doldrums of winter are melting away and with that we’re about to embark on the best season of the year. Spring means sun. And the sun bears many messages.
Message 1: Sun’s out. Guns out!
Translation: BBQs, tank tops, fake Ray-Bans, and fratting out.
Message 2: If there’s grass on the field, play ball!
Translation: Time for sports I’m actually good at. No more basketball and volleyball, it’s time for soccer and more football. Hopefully we can witness Nick again kicking a ball off of Zach only to have karma ricochet it back into his face. If we can’t relive that, at least we can dominate spring intramural sports again.
Message 3: Perfect weather.
Translation: No snow. No humidity. Nothing but blue skies smiling at me.
Yes I know what the summer brings: Boards, sweating at all times, every tv channel airing reruns and baseball, and not going back to Sacramento, but that worrying can wait. Until then, I’m going to sit in my lawn chair with my biochem notes in my lap and a beer in my hand and enjoy the sun.
And I invite all of you to brush the dust off your Rainbows, search your car for your favorite pair of sunglasses, and come join me over the next couple of months.
See you there!
